Inspired by nature and her own emotions, Lídia Bosch creates pieces that do not follow the rhythm of the seasons, but the creative current of its author. On a small scale and consciously, her work is the result of the mastery of someone who knows how to give shape to her own sensibility.

Jewelry is one of the many ways to make creativity, craftsmanship; from emotion, a unique and tangible piece. Lidia Bosch knows it well, who creates, with her hands, a universe of simple beauty, that is timeless and connected to nature.

"When I was little I liked to make things with my hands and my sister and I would play dress up with my mother's jewelry. Also, I had fun making my own gifts for my friends. I think it all started that way", she says sitting in the workshop she has organized in her own home, a warm and cozy space, bathed in natural light and full of plants and flowers.

Although this passion has been part of her  life, Lídia studied a degree, a master's degree and worked for two years in a world outside of jewelry until that summer six years ago, when her contract ended and she decided to take a course at the S'Estellera school in Palma de Mallorca. When autumn came, she was supposed to find another job, but she decided not to, instead.

"I wanted more creativity in my day to day that would not be just a hobby", she explains, so she trained at s'Estellera and then worked for two and a half years with jeweler Pep Joan, where he could perfect his technique. When the first opportunity to participate in a market came along, she found in it "the perfect excuse to take the big step".

"I wanted more creativity in my day to day that would not just be a hobby".

Thus, in 2018, Saona Joies was born, a personal and sustainable project that embraces simplicity and organic forms, and turns nature, Mediterranean culture and emotions into unique pieces through classic jewelry techniques.

The environment is paramount in the creative process of Lídia, who found in nature the perfect name for her signature. I like to look for the origin of words and I found the náufraga baleárica' -a species of plant that is only found in Corsica and the Serra de Tramuntana-, "but it was already registered as a brand, so I played around it and Saona was then born. After so much searching, I decided I wanted it to sound good".

In reality, although fortuitous, the name is not for nothing. With clear references to the sea -'S"Ona" means The Wave, in Catalan-, its symbolism accompanies Lídia's way of working: with own production, on a small scale and generating the minimum impact, a vision that is transferred to its packaging, made of recycled cardboard and without toxic dyes. This is my business model: a jewelry store that respects the environment.

"When I go to the countryside or the sea, I always look at the elements I find and think about how I can use them: branches, leaves, wood ... From here, my collections come out".

Far from the times dictated by fashions and seasons, Lídia's jewelry professes slowness and each of her collections feeds from the rhythm of nature, from which she draws inspiration in abundance. When I go to the countryside or the sea, I always look at the elements I find and think about how I can use them: branches, leaves, wood ... From here, my collections come out'. Some, like Olea, stay with her because they excite her public. Others only stay with her for a while, but the stock is minimal so as "not to overproduce and create surpluses".

In addition to creating from organic materials, she also creates with waxes. These are the origin of her two latest proposals: Jana, with irregular shapes, and Gorg, with undulating geometries "that reminded me of the sea". Wherever she starts from, her material is silver -although in the future she would like, she admits, to explore with gold- and in her creations, extolling the beauty of the simple ends up being a common denominator.

The botanical landscape of Mallorca, the gentle swaying of the reeds swaying in the wind, the delicacy found by those who know how to observe the details and the fruits that mother earth gives us, inspire Olea, Jonc, Soft and Terra -captured through the lens of Espe Perelló-, which now also coexist with the organic cotton bags designed by her mother. "She grew up in a haberdashery, with her grandmother and aunt, and is always knitting, so we decided to incorporate them into the website".

Lídia has been combining her passion for jewelry with another job for a few years. Today, she distributes her pieces at various points of sale, such as Suite 13, in Palma; DADA, in Pollença and Joy, in Deià -all aligned by the same values. In her clientele she sees a heterogeneous profile but who, undoubtedly, "values the handmade, is interested in craftsmanship and is attracted by organic materials. Someone who seeks simplicity".

Proud to continue giving free rein to her creativity after six years of ups and downs in a world, the world of craftsmanship, which is not easy and stable. Now Lídia dreams of having a street-level workshop to be more in touch with people. In the meantime, she enjoys creating from her own vision, aesthetic and conceptual, jewelry for those who observe, appreciate and enjoy the beauty of the simple things that surround us.
