Ca S'Arquitecte

Pizzas that inspire us

The menu of this pizzeria is a tribute to the architects who have inspired and still inspire its owner, an architect by training.

In a paved courtyard decorated in an austere, but well cared for way, with lamps and many plants, we found out that to enjoy a tasty summer dinner we need very little: good company, a cold beer and a delicious pizza become, here, the ideal plan.

Ca S'Arquitecte has become a place of pilgrimage for pizza lovers. Many residents of the Pla, but also from around the island and, of course, many visitors looking for places with a special charm visit this restaurant at least once during the course of the summer. And at the first bite we totally understand why.

The only unwritten rule to enjoy one of its succulent pizzas is to make a reservation. We verified it in first person, because, although the terrace is large, in Ca s'Arquitecte they make sure that, in spite of not having a single free seat, the diners feel comfortable.

The gastronomic offer of this restaurant in Sencelles, in the heart of Mallorca, is simple: a few starters, four different salads, two impressive calzones and twenty-five varieties of pizza that coexist permanently on the menu with some special proposals linked to the seasonal product. Sometimes they make pizza with figs, sometimes with mushrooms, but this is decided, of course, by nature.

As soon as we arrive, we sit down on a white sofa for just five minutes, the time it takes one of the friendly waiters to prepare our table, which has just been left empty. Here we sip a beer while we look around us: the terrace stretches into the distance and, where it ends, a beautiful field of fruit trees begins. The place is undoubtedly magical and the atmosphere is relaxed, lively, but laid-back. A pure summer night.

Finally we can sit at our table, a white table sheltered under a spectacular mulberry tree that occupies the center of the terrace and captures, majestically, the attention of everyone who dines in the outdoor patio of Ca S'Arquitecte. We whet our appetite with some toasted bread with black and green olives, while we go on to investigate the pizzas.

From Le Corbusier's National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo to Renzo Piano's London Bridge Tower, the menu of this pizzeria is a tribute to the architects who have inspired and still inspire its owner, an architect, who combines work in his own architectural studio with the restaurant.

It is not very difficult to choose just one option, so we decided to order two proposals and share them: on the one hand, the special pizza of the day, with burrata, caramelized cherry tomato and basil pesto; on the other, the proposal that pays tribute to the Australian architect Glenn Murcutt, a tasty pizza with tomato, mozzarella, spinach, goat cheese, onion confit and oregano, to which we add, as a finale, an extra egg. Why not?

For its homemade dough, very thin but consistent, and with a crunchy touch on the edges, Ca S'Arquitecte is placed,  rightfully gained, in the highest positions of our ranking of pizzerias in Mallorca. Surrounded by families, tourists, groups of friends and couples, under a very tall and leafy mulberry tree, we have found a place that, from now on, we cannot stop recommending.
