Ca'n Pau is a family business dedicated to the production and sale of artisan ice cream since 1986, with a firm commitment to the use of local produce: almonds, oranges and lemons. We can say, without fear of being wrong, that they are the best ice creams in Sóller.

Today we decided to take advantage of our day off to go on an excursion and discover a route that we had been waiting for some time: the Biniaraix ravine and torrent. A classic itinerary among hiking lovers. A simple route, without too many slopes or steep slopes, which is ideal to go with the family, or as in our case, to do some exercise and marvel at the panoramic views offered by the place.
In just a few hours we are finished. As there is still time until lunchtime, and we are right next to Sóller, we take the opportunity to walk around the center. We decided to ask a friend who lives in town to join us and be our guide. We visited the Municipal Market, the Botanical Garden and Can Prunera. As we strolled through the Plaza de la Constitución, our friend told us that she was going to treat us to some ice cream she has been eating since she was a little girl and that she is sure we will love it.
Located just at the entrance of the shopping center on Carrer de Sa Lluna, we found the premises of Gelats Ca'n Pau. A traditional family business dedicated to the production of ice cream since 1986, when Pau, the founder, turned master ice cream maker and craftsman, opened the business. From its beginnings it has bet for the local product to elaborate the ice creams.
The premises are narrow, but elongated. Just at the entrance and on the right hand side the showcase is located with all the varieties available. As it could not be otherwise, I decided for a tub of 2 scoops of orange and lemon flavor. We also ordered a tub of two pistachio and chocolate balls and a crocanti cone with chocolate chips. We took advantage of the fact that the place has a terrace in the square itself, and decided to sit at one of the few free tables left to enjoy the ice cream and the magnificent day.
Our friend was right, they are great ice creams. The portions are generous, and the flavors are incredible. You can tell that it is a natural and artisan product. That citric and acid touch of orange and lemon is present in every spoonful. A powerful and refreshing flavor, which on a hot day like today, is to be much appreciated. The pistachio, although it may seem silly, tasted like actual pistachio! Perfect balance between the milk and the nut, present in the flavor and in the form of small shavings. The chocolate one, rich in flavor and not at all cloying, as is often the case. And last but not least, the crocanti. Chocolate with a little more milk than the previous one, but with a great flavor. And as a gift, as in the pistachio, shavings. The crunchy and tasty cookie, but without stealing the limelight.
While we enjoy our ice cream, the square is a coming and going of people from all over the world. An incessant movement of people coming and going, amazed by the beauty of the surroundings and whose main attractions are the majestic Parish of Sant Bartomeu, the building of the old Bank of Sóller and of course, the tram, which descends loaded towards the port. It was a great day: excursion, walk and ice cream, what more could you ask for? In case it was not clear yet, we strongly recommend that, if you come by the area one day, you make sure to visit Ca'n Pau. We are definitely coming back again.
